    PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

    At the end of this module, you will know how to:

    • Conduct, visualize and interpret Time-Series Analysis;
    • Find new patterns and insights in the data;
    • This module does not cover predictive modelling.

    This module includes opportunities to practice and assess your skills to conduct this type of analysis.

    WHAT IS A TIME SERIES ANALYSIS?

    A Time Series is a series of data points indexed over time. Time series analysis are useful to monitor business or industrial processes or to track the evolution of business metrics such as blended learning, certification level, student satisfaction or any survey data... In most cases, new patterns can be identified by smoothing the data with a Single Moving Average or Single Exponential Smoothing, or by "pivoting" the data by hours, days, weeks, month or by year.

    Note: The theoretical developments in time series analysis started with the autoregressive models in the 1920s. The description and characterization of time series was suggested at the same time by the Russian statistician and economist, E. Slutsky (1927), and the British statistician G.U. Yule (1921, 1926, 1927).

    PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

    At the end of this module, you will know how to:

    • Plot addresses on a map using Google free service (no coding, no API);
    • Calculate the average driving distance from multiple locations to a specific address.

    This module includes opportunities to practice and assess your skills to conduct this type of analysis.

    ABOUT GEO-MAPPING AND DRIVING DISTANCE ANALYSIS

    Density Analysis such as Geo-Mapping and Driving Distance help visualize and analyze the people, activities or objects in a defined geographic area. This can be used to optimize the locations of instructors, central venue, or training facility.

    Note: maps have always fascinated human beings for centuries. The oldest recorded route and map that we found is a town plan showing buildings and a volcano. It was found in Anatolia and dates from 6100-6300 BC.

    PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

    At the end of this module, you will know how to:

    • Create and interpret a Density Map using Excel feature;
    • Create and interpret a Hexagon Map to represent US States with equal-size hexagons.

    This module includes opportunities to practice and assess your skills to conduct this type of analysis.

    WHAT IS A DENSITY MAP?

    A Density Map is a simple way to represent and analyze where locations may be concentrated in a given geographical areas. This can be used to find the best locations for a Training Facility or Instructor to minimize travel time for students.

    The Excel template includes two types of Density Maps:

    1. Excel Map (US, Global, Europe, ...)

    2. Hexagon Chart (US-map)
